YMCA Camp Onyahsa

The reason I understand the importance of strong communities is because I was surrounded by one from age 5 to age 20 during my time attending and working at YMCA Camp Onyahsa. My time at camp showed me the value of diversity as well as the value of accessible programs for youth. I also credit camp for giving me strong skills in leadership and confidence. Onyahsa offers several financial scholarships each summer, as well as specialized programs to suit different medical conditions, such as the YOWIDICA program for kids with Type-1 Diabetes. During my time working at Onyahsa, I was able to fill a wide range of roles. Starting as a camp counselor in 2018, I was eventually promoted to be the Boating Director for 2 summers, and in 2023, my final summer, I served as the Program Director.
